Neighbourhood

It's great when your expectations of something are blown out of the water isn't it?

This is exactly what happened when I ate at Neighbourhood in Manchester at the weekend.

I've always considered it as a great place to spend a Friday or Saturday night in my best heels, finest dress, celebrity spotting and sipping cocktails. But it hadn't crossed my mind to eat there!

Nevertheless, my parents and I took our seats around a beautiful mirrored table and our waitress, Michaela, gave us the low down on the menu.

My dad and I especially love to try various different options from the menu.

While we debated, warm crusty bread with whole grain mustard butter kept our stomachs from growling too loudly.

And my Elderflower Martini followed soon after.

If, like my Dad and I, you too like to have a taste of everything, the dinner menu is perfect!

The different sections of the menu are filled with tapas style choices and they recommend 2 options per person.

We chose 6 and Michaela quite rightly suggested we have them come out in 'dribs and drabs'.

First up! Salmon tacos, salmon cechive and tempura gurnard.

First thing that strikedd me with this food? How fresh the ingredients tasted and the perfect presentation.

After finishing this first round I was questioning why I hadn't eaten at Neighbourhood before and whether I truly knew about Manchester's food scene like I thought I did!

Excited for more, out came the mini burgers, truffle mac and cheese (fit for one person) and buttermilk marinated chicken lollipops.

Just look at that golden crust covering that gooey cheesy goodness!

What more can I say guys? I was blown away! Not just because I didn't have any preconceptions but simply because the food was THAT good!

FYI, if the food alone doesn't do it for you, the service in Neighbourhood is spot on. It's nice to have a waitress/waiter who seems genuinely interested in ensuring you have a great experience!

  1. Neighbourhood disappointed me when I went for lunch. I'm surprised someone got blown away. Maybe I'll give it another try!

    1. Hi Reem,
That's a shame you didn't have a good experience! It's annoying when restaurants have their bad days when they can do so much better. For example, I had an awful eating experience at Rosso the other week! Definitely give it another go because my family and I were very impressed.
